Welcome back. I hope that you had a great summer. For the grade 6 students, for the grade 10 students from Stockholm, and for any students new to our community, I extend a warm welcome to our school.
We have had some staffing changes over the summer. I am pleased to announce that Ms. Tracy Huckell has taken on the role of vice-principal. Ms. Gogol is now teaching grade 7. Ms. Sarah Molnar and Ms. Bailey Bogdan join Ms. North as custodians of our school. As well, we welcome two interns to our school for the first semester: Ms. Arnson and Mr. Whelan.
I want to acknowledge the help of Garnet Moore last spring. In our preparation for the track and field meet, Garnet donated his time to prepare our three jumping pits, and he excavated a fourth pit too. I am thankful for the continued support our school receives from our community.
Extracurricular activities are already up and going. I encourage all students to join an activity. It will be fun, and furthermore, there is a lot of research which shows that students do better at school when they are more involved in its activities.
We will be sending Data Verification sheets home with students. This is something we do every year. The point of this is to update any biographical information that has changed. Examples would be any changes in phone numbers, email addresses, land location, or marital status. It is important to us that we have accurate and up-to-date information.
Talking about current email addresses, soon we will be sending out the usernames and passwords to log on to ConnectEd to parents who have not yet used it. With this program, you can track your child’s grades and attendance, among other information. You can access this from the tab on the left hand side on our school’s website. If you have forgotten your log-in information, call the office and we can reset your account. But we need a current email to do this.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me. My door is always open.
I hope you all have another great year at school.
IMPORTANT DATES: Sept. 21, 2017- Academic Awards AM

STUDENT SERVICES Ms. Jeannine LeSann
I hope all EHS students had a relaxing and refreshing summer vacation. I have a few announcements to start of this school year:
Post-Secondary Education Day – October 13, 2017 for all grade 10-12 students. Parents are welcome to come and check out the presentations (all day) and booths (A.M.) in the gym.
Grade 11 and 12 students should consider going on a campus visit this fall to explore their post-secondary options. These are high energy events planned by post-secondary institutions to help high school students get a sense of campus life, learn about different programs throughout interactive sessions, and tour the campus grounds and residence areas.
A few upcoming campus visit dates include:
U of S Open House (University of Saskatchewan) – Friday September 29th, 2017
UR Connected (University of Regina) - TBA
Many of these post-secondary institutions are just starting to accept early registration at these events but keep checking their websites for updated information. If the school you are interested in attending isn’t listed here, I can help you with finding the campus visit dates for the school you have in mind. Just ask!
Grade 12 Guidance Meeting:
In the middle of September grade 12 students will meet in Sr Meeting Room (407) for a very important guidance update. We will discuss graduation requirements, post-secondary applications (some are due very early), scholarship applications and where to find more information about these, letters of reference, campus visits, career day (October 13), apprenticeship opportunities, and SAT preparation for students planning on going to school in the U.S. Please check the announcements and make sure you are in attendance for this meeting.
